Methandienone oral or injectable – is there any difference?
Methandienone is also commonly sold under the brand name Danabol. It is generally used as an oral steroid, though injectable forms are also available. However, when any drug is available in multiple forms, it also creates some confusion. Users want to know which form is more effective and safer.
Methandienone is good in the way that it has a favorable androgenic to anabolic profile. However, that is not all. It is also among the most potent anabolic steroids for bulking. It is definitely among the best when it comes to orally used anabolic steroids.
However, on the downside, along with strong anabolic action, it has a considerable androgenic activity. Thus, it is quite likely to cause virility, symptoms like acne, increased hair growth, and voice changes.
Additionally, it is also a substrate for aromatization, which means that it retains the estrogenic activity characteristic of testosterone. Thus, it is quite likely to cause gynecomastia and water retention.
Thus, those using oral or injectable methandienone should also consider PCT using anastrozole or tamoxifen.
Now coming to the primary question, what is better? Injectable for oral form?
Methandienone is quite suitable for oral use as it is readily absorbed and has good bioavailability. However, it does undergo first-pass metabolism in the liver. It also has a short half-life of just 3 to 6 hours. It means that 3 to 4 tabs a day taken 6 to 8 hours apart would be needed to maintain its optimal level in the body.
Additionally, it is quite a hepatotoxic steroid. This toxicity is caused by both due to first-pass metabolism and further metabolism of the drug in the liver.
It means that injectable form would have some distinct advantages like the ability to have one dose a day. It also means that one can use it at a higher dosage and would have better bioavailability, as injectables do not undergo first-pass metabolism.
Although injectable is not free from hepatoxicity, but such an effect may be relatively less.
Nevertheless, despite an injectable form having some edge over oral forms, these benefits are not very significant. Therefore, most people would still prefer using the oral form to taking a daily injection.
Moreover, multiple oral doses a day may provide more consistent plasma levels than injectables. It is because half-life does not depend much on the route of administration. Its short life means that even intramuscular injection would struggle to maintain plasma levels for 24 hours.
So, what do we conclude?
It would be correct to say that oral dosage would be the right option for most people, as injectables offer only marginal benefit over the oral form. However, very few people would like to take steroid that needs a daily injection.
Nonetheless, some people like those with significant experience in using steroids may prefer injectables. It is because injectables allow usage of considerably higher dosages without causing severe side effects. While taking a high oral dosage might cause some unforeseen effects like gastrointestinal disturbances.
